How to Upload Documents
Add PDF, Word, and other document types to your knowledge base
Upload your business documents — policies, FAQs, product guides, pricing sheets — so your AI can reference them when answering customer questions.
Steps
- Open your knowledge base from Dashboard → Knowledge Bases
- Click Upload Document
- Select a file from your computer
- Wait for the status to reach COMPLETED before testing
The AI can only use documents with COMPLETED status. Do not test the chatbot with documents still in PROCESSING.
Supported file formats
PDF, DOCX, DOC, TXT, MD, CSV, JSON
File size limits by plan
- FREE: up to 5 MB per file
- STARTER: up to 10 MB per file
- TEAM: up to 25 MB per file
- BUSINESS: up to 100 MB per file
- ENTERPRISE: up to 500 MB per file
Tips for better results
- Use text-based files when possible. TXT, MD, and DOCX files extract more reliably than PDFs. Scanned PDFs (images of paper) often upload successfully but the AI cannot read the content — use a text-selectable PDF or convert to DOCX instead.
- For structured data like prices, specs, or FAQs, a well-formatted CSV or DOCX tends to work better than a dense PDF.
- One topic per document works better than one large file covering many subjects. Smaller, focused documents produce more accurate search results.
