How to Connect a Custom Tool Server (MCP Client)
Enterprise: connect your workflow to your own MCP server with secure credentials
The MCP Client integration lets you connect a workflow to your own custom tool server — giving the AI access to any tool or data source you expose via your MCP endpoint.
Availability: ENTERPRISE only. The dashboard and API both enforce this.
Requirements
- An ENTERPRISE subscription
- A fully provisioned workflow (only eligible workflows appear in the selection)
- A reachable MCP endpoint URL (
https://recommended;http://is supported)
How to connect an MCP server
- Go to Dashboard → Integrations → Add Integration → MCP Client
- Select the workflow this MCP connection applies to
- Enter your endpoint URL (e.g.
https://your-mcp-server.example.com/mcp) - Choose an authentication method:
- None — no auth required
- Bearer Auth — provide a bearer token
- Header Auth — provide a header name and value
- MCP OAuth2 — provide a client ID and client secret
- Multiple Headers Auth — add multiple custom headers
- Click Test if the option is available, then Save
VoxeDesk stores credentials securely and attaches the MCP connection to the selected workflow.
Security notes
- After saving, secret fields are masked as
__REDACTED__in the UI. This is expected. - To keep existing credentials, leave masked fields unchanged when editing.
- To rotate credentials, enter new values in those fields and save.
- Deleting the integration removes the connection from the workflow and permanently deletes the stored credential.
